Poem: “Rent”

Standard

What joy I used to take

Staying in a rented space.

Now to clear the walk

Of a decent yard,

I’d pay.

Like an irritant in an oyster, I’m always

cowering

in the confines

of another’s house.

What myths reside

in “Home Sweet Home.”
